Natham, Palani and Kodaikanal – soon have an ultra modern resource centre under Department of Disabled Rehabilitation

Children with developmental disorder in rural areas of Natham, Palani and Kodaikanal will soon have an ultra modern resource centre near their village under the Department of Disabled Rehabilitation.
Talking to press persons after kickstarting the first training session at Dindigul resource centre for the disabled near Collectorate, Collector M. Vallalar said proposals had been sent this connection. The government had already sanctioned Rs.1.25 crore for conducting district level survey and do research on developmental disorder among school children in the district after a successful pilot study in Dindigul and Kodaikanal.
“We will set up a sound proof speech therapy room on DRDO complex in Dindigul. We have all equipment for speech therapy. Main objective was early detection that will ensure speedy cure,” he added.
The model centre has a clinical psychologist, a physiotherapist and a family consultant. Speech therapist and neuro physician will visit the centre weekly once. Vigorous training was essential for autism as there was no medicine to cure. Treatment-cum- training will be given other developmental disorders.
