‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ was celebrated with religious fervour in all Vaishnavite temples in Dindigul and Theni districts in the early hours of Thursday.
Special pujas were performed to the main deity in Sri Soundararaja Perumal temple at Thadikombu near here in the morning. An aesthetically decorated deity was taken in a procession around the outer ‘prakaram.’ The Lord had offered special sevas to the ‘azhvars.’ With the priests chanting holy hymns, Lord Soundararaja Perumal, entered into the ‘sorga vasal,’ also known as ‘Paramapadha Vaasal,’ at 6 a.m.
In the meanwhile, Sri Nammazhvar and other ‘azhvars’ waited outside ‘sorga vasal,’ situated on the north side of the temple, to receive the blessings of the Lord. Devotees too followed the lord passing through the ‘sorga vaasal.’ Later, Sri Soundararaja Perumal was placed in Vasantha Mandapam for the public to take darshan.
Hundreds of devotees took part in the festival celebrated at Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple near rock fort. After special pujas, the Lord mounted on ‘Garudazhvar’ reached a separate hall near Sri Anjaneyar Sannadhi for darshan.
